Public sculpture inaugurated

In 2021 my hometown engaged me to create a sculpture for a central place. On July 15th 2023 the steel sculpture was finally inaugurated an presented to the public. the inauguration happened in the course of a small festival to celebrate the general renovation of this new public place.

The abstract form consists of two arcs (or arms) that encircle or embrace the space in-between while still being open enough to point into different directions. This fits nicely to the idea of a public space where several streets meet and people come together from and spread into different directions. The sculpture is made of (rusty) corten steel and (blank) stainless steel to create a beautiful contrast that emphasizes the graphical appearance of the sculpture.

Member of the Royal Society of Sculptors

Jochen Warth is now member of the Royal Society of Sculptors! I am proud to tell that the RSS has offered my a membership to their renowned artist society. RSS was established in 1905 and is the oldest and largest organisation dedicated to sculpture in the UK. This is a great opportunity to get in touch with international artist colleagues.

Skulpturen von Jochen Warth in der Galerie Fingur

Creation of a stainless steel sculpture

The pictures are a bit older, but since I am often asked how my sculptures are created technicall , I want like to show them here. The photos are from the work on a large three-piece stainless steel sculpture back in 2006. The photos show how much force in needed to keep the inox steel in shape during welding, because stainless steel bends enormously under the welding heat.

New wooden sketches

In between I mad some more of my “sketches” as I call cute little wooden sculptures. As always (this is the rule of the game), the small wooden steles are made from one single piece without glue or dowels. I also gave them all a white glaze so that the wood structure is less prominent. More photos are availbale on the sculptures page.

Corona Output 2021

The Corona lockdown periods have been quite productive. I found time and energy to tackle “complicated things” and experiment with new forms. Among others, a sculpture was completed that required more than 3,000 welding spots. Here are a few photos of recent work:
